Sobriety

I want to keep this short. I am very proud of my sobriety and the people in my life that are sober. It has helped me get me where I am today. I have been promoted, I have been given better responsibilities I am a much better husband, son and adult.

I struggle to write this. Because, well I am not an addict. I choose to be sober to help support the people in my life that are addicts.

We as a society need to change the stigma surrounding addicts. We need to support these people. I struggle to write this thinking what potential employers will think of me. But this is me trying to destigmatize addicts and sobriety.

I am proud of being sober. If an employer reads this and thinks differently of me or my family, then I am fine with them not contacting me.

I support addicts, I have seen the pain, I have seen family hit rock bottom. I have also seen that no one can force anyone to become sober but themselves. It has to be the choice of the addict and the individual to become sober.
